‘He promised he’d call me,’ I thought as I lay on my couch, a few hours past midnight, with the phone clutched in my hands, just incase he did call.
“Where is he?” I asked myself aloud. Gerard has been acting really weird here lately.

‘He’s been seeing Bert behind my back’ I looked at the note I found in the jacket Gerard left at my apartment.
I read and reread the note over and over again until it was haunting me. I couldn’t stop thinking about them being together, I couldn’t look at Gerard the same way.

“Hey babe, I can’t come over tonight,” his voice came out of the phone, “I forgot I promised Mikey we’d have a huge horror movie marathon,” he’s lying.
“Well, can’t I come with you?”
“No, I promised him it would be just the two of us.”
“Oh,” I shook my head, though he couldn’t see me, and let a few tears fall.
“Hey, I’ll come over tomorrow, I promise,” I rolled my eyes.
“Alright,” maybe tomorrow I’ll talk to him about this.

We were sitting on my couch, watching some random movie he picked out. He had his arms around me while staring at the tv when I finally got the courage to say something.
“Gee, I know about Bert,” he tensed up a bit.
“What about Bert?” I pulled away from him.
“I know you’ve been seeing him behind my back. I know that’s who you were with last night,” I let tears fall from my eyes.
“Frankie, baby, there’s no one else, only you,” he wiped the tears off my face.

It had been a few weeks since I confronted Gerard about the whole Bert thing. I haven’t seen much since then, and I know he’s at Bert’s or Bert’s over at his place.  
“Gee, why are you lying to me?” he had just told me that he was taking a family vacation and couldn’t get out of it, even though he’s in his twenty’s
“I’m not lying.”
“I know you’re going to be with Bert.”
“Not that again, I’m not with Bert.”
“I found this,” I handed him the note, “in your jacket pocket a little over two weeks ago.
“Honey, Bert was just being an idiot.”

He was gaining my trust back.
I called Mikey to see if they really are going on vacation, which they are, well did. They’re already back, and ever since they’re return Gerard’s been spending more time with me, so I trust him now.
I was out buying him an ‘I’m sorry for accusing you’ present.
I stopped at a Starbucks to get some coffee, what else?, when I saw Gerard in the corner, and I was going to approach him until I noticed he wasn’t alone.
He was with Bert, and not only that, they were heavily making out.
Tears were streaming down my face as I stood there watching them. It was like I couldn’t move. “Gee,” I whispered.
He pulled away from Bert when he heard his nickname. “Frankie,” he was obviously shocked.
Suddenly me legs started working again and I ran out of the Starbucks and to my apartment.

“Frank! Open the door!” he started beating on my bedroom door ‘man, I forgot he has a key’
“Go away Gerard!”
“Frank! I’m sorry!”
“No, you’re not,” my voice broke.
“Yes, I am.”
“You gained my trust back and you ripped that to shreds. I shouldn’t have trusted you again so fast.”
“Frank, please come out.”
“I never want to see you again.”
“You don’t mean that.”
“Yes, I do. Go away and never come back. Go be happy with Bert.

He’s made attempts since then to get back with me, but I refuse to talk to him.
He’ll sit outside my apartment door some nights and sing stupid love songs to try to win me over but I send notes under the door saying ‘I’ll never forgive you’ and he’ll stop for the night
Tonight he slipped it back asking why.
‘You’re a liar’ was my response.
